College Preparatory Education

One of the most unique aspects of the Island View program is our fully accredited high school and unmatched academic integration. Because a quality education experience and the pursuit of a high school diploma are an important part of a resident's interdisciplinary treatment, we support a subject-specific, whole-class instruction model that is very different from other adolescent treatment programs with similar levels of clinical care.

All of our courses are taught by qualified and experienced personnel. That means sciences are taught by science teachers and Spanish by a Spanish teacher.

Additionally, our school includes access to a computer lab, tutoring, fully staffed library and specialized programming such as our nationally recognized Outdoor Classroom. This program brings the outdoors and curriculum together to challenge students in a different way while allowing for individualized learning to take place in subject areas such as math, art and science.

Island View's on-campus private school

Island View's on-campus private school is fully accredited with the Utah Department of Education, the California Department of Education and the Northwest Association of Accredited Schools. Our educational program provides individualized instruction to meet the needs of residents and increase their academic skills and knowledge. Certified teachers show the ability to "re-ignite" residents to the experience of learning. A small class ratio of one teacher to 16 students per classroom enhances the learning atmosphere.

Operating on a year-round basis, Island View provides a full six-period school day, five days per week. Students are required to complete daily homework assignments and benefit from individualized attention when required. Through ongoing academic assessment and pre- and post-achievement testing, teachers aid each resident in developing effective learning strategies. We have found that academic gain and productive classroom learning are often the first indications of a return to healthy behaviors and self-esteem.

If you are looking for a place where your teenager can learn healthy coping skills and receive top-notch, evidence-based treatment while participating in a traditional, "real school" academic environment, call Island View today.
