Island View operates its own on-campus private school, since resident’s education and pursuit of a high school diploma are an important part of the interdisciplinary treatment. The school is fully accredited with the Utah Department of Education, the California Department of Education and the Northwest Association of Accredited Schools.

The educational program provides individualized instruction to meet the resident’s particular needs and increase academic skills and knowledge. Certified teachers show the ability to “re-ignite” residents to the experience of learning. A small class ratio of one teacher to sixteen students per classroom enhances the learning atmosphere.

Operating on a year-round basis, Island View provides a full six-period school day, five days per week. Students are required to complete daily homework assignments and benefit from individualized attention when required. Through ongoing academic assessment and pre-and post-achievement testing, teachers aid each resident in developing effective learning strategies. Indeed, academic gain and productive classroom learning are often the first indications of a return to healthy behaviors and self-esteem.
