Safety Standards
Island View considers your child’s safety to be of primary importance. As a member of the nation’s most comprehensive network of behavioral health programs for youth, Aspen Education Group, we proudly abide by the following safety guidelines:
- Psychiatric Evaluation completed within the first 24 hours of admission by a board-certified psychiatrist.
- Psychiatric staff monitor and manage medication
- Initial meeting with nursing staff within 24 hours to review medical history and take current stats.
- A full Health and Physical is completed within 5 days of admission.
- Suicide Screening in triplicate by the milieu staff at the time of admission, by psychiatrist within the first 24 hours, and then by the primary therapist within 72 hours
- 1:5 staff/student ratio during waking hours, 6:30 am to 11:00 pm, and then 1:12 staff/student during sleeping hours
- Nursing coverage 7 days a week, 7:00 am to 11:00 pm
- All staff are First Aid and CPR certified
- Students are assessed ongoing for elopement/suicide precautions and protocols initiated by psychiatrist or therapist as needed.
- All staff are required to complete initial training and annual recertification on safety policy and protocols
- Residents who pose safety concerns are restricted to secure areas of the facility
- Closed campus with students under constant supervision
